FRIDAYS FOR FUN ART CLASSES

Classes are designed for multi-aged groups of children older than 6. Younger children are welcome with an adult caregiver. All materials are supplied by LVSA. Collage
Come learn about color, design and composition thru the magic of collage with Rena Kaplowitz. Kids of all ages are encouraged to come create beautiful works of art using paper, fabric, found objects and glue.

Collaborative Painting
Join Jill Schwarz in a playful creative experience for children and their caregivers. We will be using big brushes & bold colors to create shared abstract paintings on stretched canvas. The objective is to harmonize with and inspire each other in the process of creating a lasting treasured piece of artwork with bonding memories.

Tie Dye
Learn the colorful art of Tie Dye. Two T-Shirts and instruction will be provided by our local Tie Dye expert, Patti Kiehne. Students may also bring one 100 % cotton item from home to dye. This is a fun way to explore color, design and brighten up your style.

Clay For the Young Artist
Use your hands to create clay sculptures! Animals, people or whatever you can imagine can become a work of art. Nicole Copel will introduce students to different ways of shaping, molding and building with clay. Individual time will be scheduled the following week to decorate art work.

Balsawood Modeling Class
James Cooper will lead the group as they build a rubberband flying scale model balsa wood airplane from kits. During two days of class, each student/adult pair will assemble parts with glue, paper, seal and paint the models. We will end the second day by actually flying our planes. This class is designed to be a fun and exciting joint project for children and adults with lots of adventure in flying model airplanes now and into the future.

Ukuleles
David & Annie Enke will provide a general introduction to the ukulele, including tuning, proper playing techniques and reading simple music. Based on past workshops, we should be able to play one or two songs by the end of class. Ukuleles are wonderful sounding instruments that are fairly easy to learn yet can be played in very impressive ways.

Film Appreciation
Kenny Schneider will introduce students to film history and technique. Class will view and discuss a classic film.

Did You Know You Are A Musician?
Join Ken Saydak for an afternoon of listening to, talking about and playing music. Bring percussion instruments if you have them. We will compare different styles of popular music, learn the basic elements of melody, rhythm, and harmony with emphasis on fun, participation and group performance.
